Background: As part of our SixBit installation, we download and install a copy of SQL Server 2022 Express. SQL Server 2022 Express is a program from Microsoft. Client versions of SQL Server require SQL Server Management Objects (SMO).
Symptom: You may see an error that says Could not load file or assembly Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo....
Possible Causes: SQL Server Management Objects did not install correctly on your computer, or a required component was not installed alongside SixBit.
Solution
Uninstall SixBit, restart your computer, and reinstall SixBit fresh using the latest installer from your SixBit account. This ensures all required components are installed together correctly.
If the error continues to occur after a clean reinstall, contact SixBit Support with the exact error message. Microsoft has changed how these components are distributed in recent SQL Server versions, so if this is still happening it may point to something in the installer that needs to be looked at directly rather than a fix you can apply yourself.
