Entering Etsy Titles and Descriptions

The titles and description are really the most important part of a listing.  They describe the item to the buyer, and are entered on the Titles and Description tab.

 

 

 

To enter the Etsy Title:

If the Etsy Title will be same as the Product Title...

 

  1. Set the Etsy Title to [[ProductTitle]].  When the listing is submitted, the text in the Product Title will replace the [[ProductTitle]] placeholder.  To understand the relationship between Etsy Title and Product Title better, refer to Adding Product Information to an Item.

 

If the Etsy Title will be different than the Product Title...

 

  1. Enter the text of the title.  The input field will not allow more characters to be entered than Etsy will allow.

 

 

To enter the description:

The description on Etsy must be plain text, no HTML is allowed.  The description can be entered directly into the Description box, or the built-in editor can be used.  Click the Edit icon next to the Description field to use an editor to enter the description.  The displayed editor is based on the HTML editor that is available for other sites like eBay.  It allows for adding variables from the item record to be resolved at submission time.
