Thanks for the explanation. I have adjusted everything so that it functions more like the way it did before. I just get all bent out of shape when I think that programmers are adding extra button clicks to my life.

Since I use right-click to duplicate everything it just seems to default to whatever options I used last time to duplicate an item.

    Thanks again!

Nevermind…I just found a workaround for it. Un-check that edit box and continue to right click duplicate. Back to behaving normally.

It would have been easier to force that window to open for editing purposes.

This whole change makes no sense to me. I seriously thought there was a bug.

In prior versions, duplicating items would create the items in “Under Construction” and leave the user where they are. This was unintuitive to many new users who expected to see the new item or items open in the editor. In the last beta, we now provide the option of what to do when duplicating. If you click the button under “Duplicate” and choose “Custom Duplication”, you will have the option of whether or not to edit the item upon duplication.

Yes, the item has always duplicated in “Under Construction” and still does now. I just get switched to “Views” for what I can tell is no good reason. I don’t understand exactly what was unintuitive about it duplicating and then opening a new window of the new item ready to be edited. How about making it open the window automatically without switching over to the views section. I feel like that is the unintuitive aspect of this whole thing.

Also, when I choose “Custom…” I see a list of things that will be duplicated but I do not see the important things that I need duplicated, mainly description, item specifics and shipping options. It really isn’t all that powerful of a tool in the long run…

If you choose to Edit the item upon duplication all new items will appear in the Views section, the user will be sent to see those items, and the first item will be open in the Edit window. Users can then use the navigation arrows to navigate between items.

If you choose not to Edit the item, it will continue to act as it did previously.

Again…this doesn’t make any sense to me. For 3 years that I have been using this program I have done everything from the workflow section. Is this wrong? What reasoning is there to work out of the views section if what I am doing is editing listings? I really don’t see one, and at our company we have never even touched the views section let alone build listings out of it. Now we have a lot of extra button clicks for doing the same simple task.

This seems like it is the exact opposite of a feature or an improvement. I was behind on installing updates and now I regret installing this last beta. Can I switch back?

I’ll add this to the Release Notes.

These forums used to be full of users answering questions…unfortunately the whole thing seemed to die as soon as SixBit switched to these new forums.

You should probably just open a support request…

The only reason I can think of would be if you accidentally submitted it as an auction.

The “Best Offer” feature has always worked for our eBay store, that setting is one of the constants that has been turned on for our fixed price listings since we started using SixBit. The only time I have seen it get shut off is if I take an auction and try and run it at fixed price after not selling. I always forget to go back in and re-check that box.

Update: I updated SixBit to 3.00.143 and the problem came back. Pictures are not offset from the text. Exactly the same as the original problem…

Well, perhaps make all of them available in the template area…I know what I want to choose since most of our listings all fall under “Business and Industrial.”
I would have to choose from 30-40 of templates for each category instead of a general “New,” “Used,” or “For Parts…” Template.
If someone chooses the wrong condition for their category an error could pop up explaining the conditional error.

Over the course of a year I could save a ton of time not having to select a condition for my listing. I am sure that I am not the only one here that something like this would help.

Here is a sample view of my template…for those who may not be clear from my description.

I would actually love to see all of the possible conditions in that drop down and then see the ones that do not fit disappear once the category is input by the user.

After spending some time with support and having them grab a copy of my DB and work on it over the weekend my problem has been fixed by the latest update 3.00.137.

This can be impossible to troubleshoot but the non-working one, which says it was generated by SixBit eCommerce Suite 3.0.113.0, has old-school javascript baked into it with document.writes and stuff, and the entire section is commented out. Possibly automatically by Ebay.

The one that works says it was generated by SixBit eCommerce Suite 3.0.118.0 and is well formed, uses a more modern and compliant design, and well, works. If I had to guess I’d say the description template or whatever you use wasn’t updated or applied to that other listing for some reason. Sixbit’s release notes for .114 say “Added Picture Gallery snippet to comply with eBay Active Content” so I’m guessing that’s the difference.

First of all, where do you see this, because I haven’t noticed it.

It sounds like a portion of my program reverted to .113 after that change on the 20th. Which is strange because I would have updated to a newer versions, is it because I went from version .113 to .117? Where would I find the .114 update at?

It looks like our HTML is missing a break somewhere (not an expert), but I can assure you that no one messed with our HTML. I am 90% sure this occurred after an update.

Attached below are two of the listings. They are being viewed in Chrome in the screenshots. I have also opened the listings in Firefox and see them formatted the same, so I don’t think it is a browser issue.

eBay trying to make Mobile the future of its business is degrading the quality of the interaction between the customer and us. We now constantly receive inquires about item details that are already contained within the listing. I know when I am using the mobile interface I have to click on the button to show detailed descriptions. Instead of having all of the info that you need to make your decision on the front page it now requires button clicks.

    Anyway…I just wanted to rant.
