It’s looking like the current setup means the Sales Tax report is somewhat useless, I now have to go through the report and eliminate all the locations where eBay collects.
I’m in Canada so I collect taxes for sales within Canada, the sales tax report is now filled with all the States where eBay collects and I have to go through and pick out the ones (Canadian Provinces) where I am collecting.
I can still get the data I need but there is extra work involved as in the past I could just run the report and get the totals. My Canadian Sales are only 5% while my US sales are about 40%, this makes about 90% of the Tax Report irrelevant garbage. In an average tax period (quarterly for me) I might sell to 3 or 4 provinces and 30 – 40 US Sates, it will make what in the past would have been a 2 page report into a 20 page report and growing as more US States are added to the list of MF States.
I can deal with it but it’s annoying, it may be easier to export to csv for the Canadian sales and create my own report.
Still 20 days until any of the new GTC’s rollover. In the meantime just sort your Listings by ending date, select the ones that you want to end, right click, select end…..done.
The scheduler is available now if you want to give the beta a spin, if not you’ll have to wait a bit longer (but probably less than 20 days).
Thanks John, good to know even though it’s not usually an issue. I asked because I’m having some router problems at the moment and my connection is dropping out from time to time. When it happens during a scheduled upload it’s a non-issue (just reschedule) but to end a listing it’s slightly more critical. I doubt I have any listings that will ever renew between midnight and 6:00am so that gives the Agent 6 kicks at the can which is plenty.
I don’t use Allocations so that is not an issue (for me).
I don’t believe it’s possible from the SixBit end. Perhaps there is some way using eBay’s File Exchange.
If it’s just a one off of “several” cut and paste would be a whole lot easier.
Thanks John.
That will work but it would be nice if one could select a specific time (understanding that the agent will only run its task once an hour).
One other thing, currently with a scheduled listing if there is a glitch (agent not running, internet connection not available) at the scheduled time then the listing will not be uploaded and needs to be manually reset to a new start time.
In the case of ending listings, if a glitch happens during the first cycle 0:01am – 1:00am, will the Agent retry when it does it’s next run an hour later?
John
How will the timing work, can “auto-date” be set to end listings at the first agent run that occurs on the auto-date or can it be set for a particular hour of that date?
What I’m really wondering is how close to the rollover day/time can I have the agent end the listing? Would it be an hour before, after the first agent run on the day of (ie: 01:00am or before) or the day before?
For the above I’m working on the assumption I will schedule the end date/time well ahead of the desired day/time (most often when initially listing).

Have a look at what InkFrog have implemented

Personally I’m just going to create a filter that will give me a list of listings that will renew in 2 days, I’ll just check it and either select all and end or skim the list and pick the individual ones I don’t want renewed as GTC an end them. The filter could be set up with any amount of warning time you want.
Perhaps a filter something like the one that shows “out of stock” active listings but instead is for listings renewing with “x” days would work.
I’m just guessing on this because I have never used the GTC option.
Go to the Items in question (not the current Listings), swap out the new pics for the old pics. Then go to the running Listings and revise, you will need to tick the box (at the bottom I think) to reupload pics with the revision.
Yes I think it’s “new” (but not that recent).
The rationale for doing this was posted a while back, SB decided it was best to only download the actual payment address from PayPal rather than the eBay address which is often not correct.
To an extent I agree with their thinking.
Following up on what John said. Deleting the Sales records will hardly change your database size at all.
For the most part the only reason to concern yourself with database size is if you are close to reaching the 10gb limit for the free SQL version, if that’s the issue then removing the images is the only way to significantly reduce the db size.
Can you explain specifically what it is that you don’t like about this forum software?
The unasked for and impossible to turn off notifications are quite annoying.
3 actual reply posts generated 16 notifications today for a thread I’m NOT subscribed to!
Interesting…..I had no idea. These merchants must be getting a kickback from GS1
I’ve never had to buy any because I acquired a prefix in the mid-80’s from UCC.
If you buy your own (legit) UPC codes how would WalMart know where they came from?
Use Advanced Search……
Title contains “xxxx” + Title does not contain “yyyy”
Or whatever parameters you like.
