I should add that I’m already running V4.00.202 so not being able to upgrade will not affect my eBay connection given the info you posted about this.

I tried to upgrade but the Release Notes screens shows a script error when I open it. I use the latest FireFox browser.

Thanks. I’m not using the $19.99 version though. I’m using the cheaper version that was created just for ex-ebay TurboLister users since eBay is retiring support (no uploads) for their free TurboLister utility. I only need a means to create and upload entries from my database to eBay. Everything else I do in eBay so a large portion of the SixBit functionality is wasted on me.
Thanks Robert! I never noticed the ‘Move To’ option by the ‘Save and Exit’ – that will be handy.
As for the custom field idea, I’m subscribed to the cheapest version of SixBit which I don’t believe supports custom fields. Plus, now that I have done the import and arranged all the entries into appropriate categorical folders, I don’t want to have to re-do that. According to SixBit help, I would lose all that folder info when re-importing the ebay database.
These are all good work-arounds but I still wish that the highlight remained on the newly created duplicate entry.
Unfortunately that won’t help me. I recently imported my 2000 entries from an eBay TurboLister database so all my listings show up as Under Construction.
Thanks, I’ll try that. It would still be much more useful (and intuitive) to have the newly created entry remain selected. When you edit an entry, that is the behavior so I expected that behavior for newly created items too.
Mine did the same thing. I did a second install without changing or deleting anything and the SixBit program was then in the Start menu and a shortcut was on the Desktop.
Thanks John, this does help.
I’m afraid that I am one of your new users who only needs a TurboLister replacement – offline listing creation and ability to upload listings to eBay. I’m not trying to grow my business and don’t see myself listing on other venues. I can’t print 80% of my postage from SixBit (USPS First Class) without incurring yet another monthly charge. I only sell used parts that are stripped from larger units that I then recondition, so tracking sourcing and costs of the items is not really practical.
The synchronized listing data may be useful for pricing strategies later but right now I just need to be able to formulate a SixBit process to function as I was in TurboLister. I think SixBit is a great product but I feel I am on the fringes of its intended audience.

Unfortunately in order to remove the auto-generation of SKU’s, you must uncheck forcing them to be unique. Forcing uniqueness is a handy feature that I would like to retain. The construction of the auto-generated SKU does not offer the option of using the original SKU that the duplicate is based upon. So this does not get me where I’d like to be.
I realize that there are as many ways to create a custom SKU as you have users. I guess I just have to train myself to do a Copy To Clipboard / Copy SKU step before creating the duplicate.
It’s hard teaching an old dog new tricks but I appreciate the effort you put in trying.
So obvious once you know – thanks!
Thanks John!
Skip the second question about the preset values. I had never done a preset but now that I see what is involved, it is clear.
Thanks, Barry
Thanks, you’ve given me two options.
If I do the re-import the TurboLister csv file approach, will I lose the categories I’ve set up in SixBit? And will the individual listings automatically be re-established in those categories?
If I do the Batch Change approach, what are the two values I need to use in the preset to indicate to SixBit that I either want or don’t want the Domestic Returns Accepted field to be checked?
Thanks, Barry
Digging into this further, I see from the Bulk Edit window that the Domestic Returns Accepted field has the same values that the TurboLister csv file has. That implies that either the TurboLister csv file value is not correct or that SixBit is not interpreting it correctly. Given that I only have a dozen or so items that I don’t accept returns on, I can see that a ‘0’ in this csv field means Returns Accepted and a ‘1’ means No Returns Accepted. Kinda backwards to my way of thinking of things but whatever.
I was told that version .103 fixed this issue yet when I upgraded, nothing changed. The Domestic Returns Accepted is still not checked in any of the listings I have looked at where it should be checked and is checked in the few listings where it should not be checked. That tells me that the flag is still being interpreted by SixBit opposite to what it should be.
Ahhh, that makes sense, thanks. I need to create another backup and restore for another reason (eBay return policy fix in .103) so I’ll give this another try. I say it makes sense because on my current computer, I backup to an external drive. My new computer does not have that same external drive path. Assuming I didn’t simply miss it during the Restore process, you should consider adding a field that shows where the pictures will be placed and allow the user to override that if necessary as you do in the Backup process.
