Here’s an example of another reason to retain original image names: eBay sends a message that there is a problem with your listing pictures (attachment 1). The item is fine and pictures are intact in SB (attachment 2). However, the way to fix it is to delete and reload all the photos. The problem is finding the photos in a library of 20,000 images when you don’t know the names.

The other issue, I’ve mentioned before, is a buyer complains about an item and it’s necessary to go back and look at original photos and need the image names.

I’m sure there are other instances where it would be necessary to access original names but these are two situations I’ve had multiple times.

Thank you, John. I didn’t know that. And also, in my panic, didn’t read your instructions carefully. Thank you for today’s fix. I look forward to future instructions and very much appreciate your quick and kind attention.

I just upgraded to .247 and am having trouble with the text editor. The CTRL+DEL command no longer works to delete whole words and the italicization has disappeared from a certain spot in my description wrapper.

    8. – I’m in favour of having the option to retain original picture names. Something I’ve been asking for for awhile. Wouldn’t it be possible to just have a view showing the original picture name while retaining SB picture names?

In my experience, eBay sometimes misses listing confirmation emails. They also sometimes miss listing ended emails. It’s a small percentage but it definitely happens.

I just upgraded to .241 and my token is timing out. Closing and re-opening the program resolves it. I don’t know how to re-authorize my token without being asked.

@Chotil – I can’t get subscriptions working either. Will post if a fix is found.

Hi Chotil – but do you get email notification when there are replies? I’m subscribed (it says ‘unsubscribe’ at the top of this page) but I didn’t receive notification of your message. I found it by coming to the page.

I am also waiting for the release with the SB tagline fix and will also need instructions on how to revise all listings. My gripe (as usual) is that I don’t get notifications when I subscribe to these topics. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Very helpful, thanks. It will be easy for me as I only have one selling venue and have never had more than three of one item. For my purposes, I can have inventory and quantity to list the same.

P.S. Looks like email subscriptions to topics still don’t work.. First we got an email for every response to every topic and now nothing…?

The reason I started entering the ‘quantity to list’ rather than ‘inventory’ is because that was the only way to get the number available to show up in the eBay listing. Should I have the same number entered in both ‘quantity to list’ and ‘inventory’ to begin with? And will both those numbers automatically update?

I guess…seems like a lot of work. Or SB could just let us see our original file names. Developers, pretty please 😀

You should try Sally – sallymilo.com. She did some SB Description Wrappers for me and I know she has been working with SB and prior to that, Blackthorne, for years.

Hi Nick – I had to move my photos out as I was near the db limit. I don’t do huge volume compared to a lot of people but I do enough that with 6-12 pictures per listing, it’s not feasible to keep track of original photo names for each item.

I don’t believe you need to keep the original image names on an inventory slip if you store photos in the db. You can see the original name in the detailed picture view.

Here’s why I NEED to have my original image names retained SOMEWHERE when I store pictures outside the database:

I get an email from eBay that says: “We’re having trouble showing buyers the gallery photo you added when you listed this item. We need you to revise your listing to fix this problem.”

This happens occasionally and it can be fixed easily by deleting and re-loading the photos. But I can’t find them among my 20,000 (I said 10,000 previously but actually have closer to 20k) photos because I don’t have the image names!

    Please help.
