    Albertine!

How wonderful to hear from you again, and that you are still selling.  I remember you from the “good ole days”.   I have no recollection of signing the shirt, but I’m so glad that you posted it here for us.  It brings back a lot of great memories.   Please feel free to post a link to the interview once its published, and thanks for the trip down memory lane!

So, it looks like its working now. Here is what happened…

When all of the registrations were failing, it caused multiple retries occasionally to try to get the authorization. The multiple retries from multiple users caused us to go over our daily limit of eBay API calls. We had to contact eBay to have them reset the call limit.

Also, this has made us aware of the issue of eBay authorization failures not allowing access into the program to manage other tasks so we have fixed that for the next release. If an Authorization fails in the future, you will be able to hit Cancel on the Profile window to still get into SixBit.

Thanks everyone for your patience and understanding.

We’re looking into these recent reports and will let you know once we have more info.

in reply to: Retain original image names when stored in external database #7138

Storing the original name of an image in the database is highly susceptible to data integrity issues. For example, just because the file had a certain name and location when it was added to SixBit doesn’t mean it will always be in the same location or have the same name. The data is only guaranteed to be accurate at the time the picture is first added. You would basically have 2 copies of the image, one in SixBit and one in your other location and there would be no good way to keep the two in synch at all times. SixBit is designed for the images to be managed from within SixBit.

This is the result of the HTML editor and the Auth window both requiring different values for the same registry setting. John M is working on the fix, but in the meantime, I sent you a private message with what you can do to fix it for now.

This issue is specific to baseball cards. In the past, eBay removed some item specifics in that category, so SixBit changed them to User Defined so the data wouldn’t be lost. eBay later added them back in which is causing some issues. This one was a little hard to find, but Steve is working on the solution and should have something in beta shortly.

in reply to: How do allocations sync with Amazon? #6974

If you force the reallocation, it will force the settings from SixBit up to Amazon, so yes, the inventory would get set to 4, and SixBit will keep it at 4 until you run out.

If you change it on Amazon, then the next time something occurs to make SixBit update the allocation (i.e. a sale occurs, a force allocation is done, etc.), SixBit will set the number back to 4 just like its supposed to.

Once you have cancelled the listing and it has gone into Submissions Pending, you must wait for Amazon to actually end the listing. Once it is ended on Amazon, it will not longer be in the Submissions Pending status and you can then delete it.

When you create a new item, you can either create it from an item template or just create a new item.

If you create it from an item template, then just make sure your Item Template has the latency set to 2.

If you just create a new item without a template, then we will use the “Default Template” as a starting point. Just make sure your default template has the latency set to 2. If you open the Manage Item Templates window from the dialog launcher in the corner of the “New” ribbon group, you will see that you can choose an Item Template and “Set as Default”. Then just make sure that Item Template has the latency set to 2 and you will be all set.

in reply to: Default font missing?? #6934

The default font feature never really worked as the default font. By default, no font is specified in the wrapper HTML, and it will assume the default of the page it is uploaded to. The best bet is to simply not worry about the initial font and simply change the font in any specific areas you would like it to be different.

    Reed,

If Turtlecove’s suggestion does not work, please open a ticket and submit your database so we can take a look at the query and find out why it might be slowing down.

When you delete an item from SixBit, you lose all of its history. A better solution is to simply end the listing and then archive the item. This will allow you to see any past sales history, or pull the item back up in the future if you want to sell it again. We believe that ending a listing and deleting an item are two separate actions and should not be linked. There may be times when you want to delete items, and not necessarily have them removed from the site.

in reply to: Allocating inventory when using variations #6931

The drawback is that there would then be multiple ways to handle variations. There are two models, the eBay model (one item, multiple variations) and the Amazon model (multiple items for multiple variations). Supporting both models in the same tool would lead to a lot of customer confusion and still wouldn’t solve the problem of “how do I list only red widgets on eBay”. eBay is in the process of modifying their architecture and as they make changes, we will be looking for ways to make it work better for both models, but for now we have implemented the “one item, multiple variations” model.

    A few updates…

    In the current beta (3.00.274)

    – the user can now keep the original name of the picture files. If you go to Options|Pictures|Management, you can now select an option that “I’ll ensure my picture names are unique….”. When adding pictures, the original name will be saved and used.

    – users can change the item with the Picture window open.

    In the next beta (3.00.275)

    – The issue with the extra beeps when the title is 80 characters is fixed.

    – The “space limiter” has been ended so double spaces can’t be added as you are entering the title.
